what size electric water pump restrictor

I thougt it was kind a like an electric fuel pump, it burns out faster if it has no where to go. That's why you run a restrictor to slow down the flow to cool. With a thermostat it opens and closes so stops flow (except the 1/8 hole). Or am I just crazy?

The block has flow internally to keep hot spots from appearing around the cylinders. Without that feature, the stat would take a long time to open. The stat only keeps the water from the radiator.

I have a electric waterpump and mine works great without a restrictor. They come in 3 packs from jegs, so you can pick the one you want.

i see your logic, but what about a regular pump that is driven off the belt? granted it is running off of the engine and most likely not bogging it down. i have no problem with my elec pump and a thermostat.

I use the smallest restrictor from the Moroso set of 3 with my CSI pump. Car runs 160 in the staging lanes on the hottest of days. Sees 180 at the end of 1/4. That pump is one of the best mods I've made as far as the track is concerned.

I have the moroso pump drive on a standard pump with no restrictors. FMS 3 core copper rad and 2 10inch electric fans. Works very well. Same as yours. I have to force heat into the motor. Car will get up to 200 as I literally cross the finish line, but by the time I turn onto the return road its back down to 180 and dropping.

10 minutes in the pits and I am ready for another round. Wonderful racetrack mod!
