What size tires on 17X10 Pony R's???

I got my 17X8 and 17X10 Pony R's in the mail a week or so ago, and am trying to figure out what tire size to go with. I'm probably going to go with Nitto 555r 245/45/17 in the front. Will I have any problem fitting Nitto 555r 285/40/17's in the rear? or could I possibly go bigger?...BTW my fender lips have already been rolled

And please post pics for reference if you have any...

You could easily run a 295.

If that is a pic of your car in the sig, Have you considered how tall a 40 series tire is? (Not very) The tires will only be 26" tall in back, and 25.7 in front. looks like the old tires were taller when you had the draglites on it.

Just saying, the smaller the second number gets, the shorter that sidewall gets

Yes that's my car in the sig, it has a 275/50 on it right now with stock spring and they rub on hard bumps...I guess I didn't explain my plans. I want to lower the car with the widest tire possibe with no rubbing. Im 500 miles away from my car and I won't be able to flip the quads or beat the inner fenders if I had to. So I was wondering if the 285/40 will have any issues

I've got 255/40/17 in the front and 275/40/17's in the rear on my Coupe with 17x9/17x10's on it.

The front fits just about square on the 9" wheels and I get the slightest rubbing when cornering hard, or bouncing into a driveway. 245's are just a hair too narrow on a 9"wheel IMO.

If I had the choice though, I'd go with the 285's in the rear. The 275's don't offer much in the line of "curb rash" protection, if you know what I mean. The choices are kind of limited for the 10" wheel. A set of more common 315's are too wide for the rim, but anything in between screws up the aspect ratio of the wheel/tire combination.

275/40-17 M/T DRs on 17x10 Pony Rs. The car hooked like crazy (with good suspension) on those tires.

A 285/40-17 would fill out the wheel a little better, but I wouldn't say that the 555rs would hook any better than the M/Ts.

I've seen 315/35s on 17x10s, but they are a little wide for that rim.

I agree with 275/40's thats whats on my 88 and it looks great with no problems rubbing or anything

I think a 275/35 nitto wouldnt look right. Nittos run a bit smaller than other brands ive noticed. I ran 315s on my 89 but i also know a 275 mickey Thompson fit on 10s nicely. Alot depends on the manufacturer.

I have bfg 275s on the rear on 10 inch wide pony r's and they are not wide enough to fit square on the wheel. I had pics of M/T 275 Drag radials on the same wheels and they fit nicely. I think it depends a lot on the tire manufacturer, unfortunately.

I still got it. I did a Trickflow top end kit on it in the spring and kind of got bored with the car. So it does a lot of sitting around collecting dust. I just don't have the heart to sell it...
