I just bought some 10.5" cobra wheels and noticed they rub a little bit on the quad shock with the 275' s on them. I just bought some 315's and was wondering what size wheel spacer I'm gonna need to keep them from rubbing. I'm leaning towards the MM 25mm spacers, but I don't know if that will be enough. Also, are the units off Ebay worth saving a few extra bucks??

Thanks,

-Mike

I have 10.5" DD Bullitts on the back with 315s, and I'm not even close to the quad. I was very close with the 335s, and all I did was flip the quad shocks upside down, and it cleared just fine. I don't know why yours should be rubbing. Try flipping the quad for more room, or get some nice control arms, because DD rims with spacers stick out like a ghetto mexican ride. Kinda like my Focus with the 5 star Pony rims on it.

if you have after market upper and lower control arms I would take your quad shocks off, you dont need them anymore. This would save you some cash as well.

That's not entirely true. Even with good control arms, some guys do have issues with wheel hops. Removing the quads is hit or miss depending on the setup.

I'd try flipping the quads before removing them.

I also would avoid running spacers at all costs. If you do go with a spacer, do not go with cheapos. I'd run the MM spacers as they are well engineered. A cheapo spacer can put stresses on the lugs and cause them to shear. I've read a few posts where guys with the cheapos have seen their rear wheels roll by them. An ungrade to hardened lugs would be cheap insurance as well.

I have H&R 25mm spacers, with 17x9's and 275x40/17's...when I run the spacers the tires will rub the fender lips some, I can't imagine a 10.5" wheel with 315 tires would begin to fit with a 25mm spacer...

you shouldnt need spacers unless you bought some bootleg wheels... i slapped my 17x10.5" wheels on with no problem... and why in the hell did you put a 275 on a 10.5" rim?good way to waste money and leave the lip exsposed for a rock to bend.

Thanks for all the help guys. I bought the wheels with the tires on them already. They're Hoosier AS303 slicks, and I got a real good deal on them. The front were 245's on a 9" cobra wheel and rear were 275's on the 10.5's. I have no idea what they were thinkin, but it worked for my benefit cuz I talked him down on the price pretty good. Once again thanks for your help fellas, I'll post some pics once I get them on. I mounted the 315's today but didn't have time to put them on the car. I can't freakin wait!!!
