okay, i just finished getting all the stuff for the upper part of the engine, and now its time to put some work on the block. i was thinking of going with a 306 since i have such a mild setup, but my local machine shop has a 347 stroker for an extra 500 bucks assembled and ready to go are those extra 500 bucks really worth it for the stroker or should i just stick with my original idea of a 306. so far i have the gt40ps,1.7rr,steeda #19cam,73mm MAF w/24lbs, 70mmTB, and full exhaust. thanks for your time and ideas.

Heres the deal

Will that stuff work on a 347 ... Yes

Will that stuff be the best choice for a 347

Well ... most of it is kinda smallish for 50 additional cubes

ya unless you get some serious porting done to those heads its not really worth it.and by the time you spend all the money on porting you could of bought good heads.addvise given to me by john forces engine builder here in vegas (kels machine shop) begin with the end in mind.sit down and honestly think of what you want from your car and be realistic on the budget.and then buy parts according.dont think your gonna get 400hp from a 3g budget.

if it were me and I had an extra 500 layin around, I'd go ahead and get the 347. Yeah, you won't be making as much power as other guys with 347s with bigger heads, etc...but you'll have a basis for future upgrades (cuz we all now it's never done )

I was kinda heading in that direction, the thing is im not sure how my car will ride as far as driveabilty, its my daily driver so i dont want to have to be dealing with it every other weekend but i should be done with school by the end of the year, and i am planning on upgrading after that. i just want to be sure the block will be good enough by then, or if i should just wait and buy everything new again when i reach that point. so many choices, and your right, they seem to never end
Another thing maybe some one can clear for me, what type of headers should i be using with the gt40ps? ive been searching around and saw that long tube headers fit, but does any brand fit or should i be looking for a specific one? Thanks for the input guys

Lets make it very clear here

The drivability is defined by the tune :Word:

Well ... that is ... unless you use ... Milk Toast ... combo parts

Seriously

For a LONG TERM plan where funds would be slowly used

If I had a tired sb

You Bet

I'd slap OEM or Milk Toast parts I had laying around on a 347

Then ... as funds become available ... Put the good stuff on it
