What the heck is a GTS?

This guy I know got a nice little 95 GTS, it's 100% stock and he's telling me it has 250hp from factory, has forged pistons, a 65mm throttle body, 70mm MAF, 2.5" exhaust (incl. H-pipe with the 4 cats), 3:08 gears (only the GTS had these gears)... he even went so far as to tell me the T5 is geared differently for the GTS models?

What can I say to this guy? IS there a fact sheet I can print out to shut him up... What is different mechanically on these models besides the AC delete? oh and I know for a FACT that this car is in the low 15's high 14's at the track.

What most of us here come to know a GTS as is a stripped down GT. It doesn't come with power windows and locks, lights with the vanity mirrors etc. It has the SAME engine with the SAME horsepower factory, that means 215, not 250. As for 100% stock, doesn't sound like it to me. I believe you can check what gears are by looking at the stamped code on the casing. If i'm not mistaken the first 3 numbers tell you what gears came in there originally. It bugs the crap out of me when people talk and don't know what the heck they are talking about. It's like that video of a guy with GT-R badges all over his stang, and he admitted to having a, "rotary with pistons". You get the idea.

Not sure what that guy is trying to say... Like stated above the GTS is like the LX of the foxbodies. Same engine just less options. You could customize your options when buying it, i.e. mine has cruise control, a\c, power mirrors and a wing. But no power windows\foglights or power doors... Some people say our car might be a tad faster stock gts vs stock gt because we'r ligther but I pretty much doubt that, foglights and power doors doesnt take that much weight.

you might meet this guy this summer but I didn't invite him to v8quebec lol You'll meet my cousin and his 95 V6 converted to 5.0 though, he's just as bad and maybe worse (what's funny is that his engine comes from a junked GTS). My cousin thinks his STOCK 5.0 has 300hp at the wheels LOL I was adopted.

yup and he says stuff like:

"I went to the dyno and at 3000rpm the machine went to 260hp, then the dyno broke down" (if that was true, the shop owner would have invited my cousin back when the machine was fixed and get a paper printed out)

"The guy at Ford said that I have a 75mm TB on my car and that my heads are ported" (how can anyone know the heads are ported just from looking at the engine bay, and it's more than obvious there's a stock TB on there)

"The guy at the parts store saw me go almost 100mph on the 1/4" (yeah I'm sure a guy that deals with 600hp cars will remember a stock green Mustang and the guy hates Fords, he's a mopar man. And if you did actually manage a 100mph run, why throw away the paper?)
