what timing are you guys running with 87??

mods are thumper, tmoss and b-cam, with cai, pullies, 70mmTB, 73MM MAF, headers and exhaust, all the basic stuff.

i have been messing around some, i just got a nice timing light today to replace my old crappy one, so i have a better one to go by.

I could only go as high as 12* on mine, and even then I was still getting a little bit of pinging. It's different for every car. Play around with it a little and see what works best for your application. Probably the highest you could hope for is 14*, but I'd say 12* is likely to be the best you're gonna get without pinging on 87 octane. Maybe compromise a little and run 89 octane...?

12* is where I have to run on 87. Car is pretty well stock.

lol i posted a topic in talk about a timing problem i had, my mark on the balancer i used was on 10 instead of 0, so my timing was 10 off. i made a new mark and set it to 12 and its running great!

I've run 15* on 87 until it gets up to ~100*F. As said, it varies for everyone.

i've read run as much timming as you can just before it starts to ping 13-15 degrees.

Go up a degree at a time and see if it pings and then back it down 1.

I haven't tried 87 yet, but I run 15º on 89.
