May be getting some tires, and it's been a couple of years, so I kinda forgot all the good ones.

Which ones are you running these days (esp in the back)?

What EXACT model are they, what size are they, and how do you like them in terms of dry/wet traction, tread wear, etc?

RC, I run BFGoodrich g-Force KDW tires size 275/40R17 all around.

Personally, I love the tire. It is a very good tire on dry and wet pavement (KDW - Key feature Dry and Wet traction).

I've had them on since March 2005 and they've been pretty decent for wear.

I don't like the Sumitomo HTR+ tires that were on the car when I bought it. The dry traction was OK, but they had little traction on wet pavement.

In the rear I have Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3. excellent traction in the rain, and on dry pavement too. I cut 1.82 60' times at the track on them with stock suspension. In the front I have Nitto 555's. They seem to be good in both wet and dry conditions.

I'm running Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 tires in the 255/45/17 size. They are a summer performance tire, and are very affordable. Dry street performance is great, very sticky and predictable. I don't know how dry performance compares to a top of the line max performance tire, but at the price, I don't care. Wet performance is acceptable, but not confidence inspiring. Since they are summer tires, you would be insane to drive on snow, sleet or slush with these.

i have the htrz-II sumitomos on the car and it has good traction, dry weather, decent traction in wet weather....I think i will be going with Toyo's next time, i drove a buds car with those and it is great even in the rain..

Same here. Best "street" tire I've ever ran.



Running HTRZ ll's up front. Don't like them. Will replace with matching Goodyear's or Kuhmo's.

Nitto 555's on all 4 corners. very happy with them so far




might switch to some Toyo Proxies (sp) next time since a friend gets a discount on them

I am running Toyo Proxes T1 tires; I am very happy with them

When I bought them originally, they were T1-s, and I bought 265/35/18s for the front, 285/35/18s for the back.

The fronts wore out after two years because of the car being lowered and not being able to get a good alignment. I just put new tires for the front: T1-R 255/40/18s. The rears are still going strong.

Very nice tires and great dry and rain traction. Not so great in the snow though.

They don't make the T1-Ss any more, they were replaced with the T1-Rs, which actually cost less than the T1-Ss did 2 years ago. I paid $200 per tire for the T1-Ss 2 years ago, the T1-Rs were $180 each.

I have Toyo's also, proxys Very happy with them, excellent wet or dry, I dont drive in the snow....so I dont know how they are.

Oooo tire thread! The car came with Pirellis at all 4 corners, but they were pretty much slicks by the time I got it. Switched to Nitto 555s in the back and Falken's up front. The Falkens were "alright" and the 555s gripped like crazy, crazy enough where I bent an axle launching at a stop light.

I ditched those 4 tires and now I'm on Pirelli P6000s on all 4 corners. They are great when its dry out but I really baby it in the water. Since I bought the truck I really don't drive the stang unless its nice out anyway, so take that for what its worth. This is all on the stock waffle rims with stock size, btw.

Just remember....when you buy tires, you WILL get what you pay for.

I say this over and over again in tire threads and it is constantly ignored because of their price - Michelin tires are some of the best tires money can buy. I have Pilot Sports on my car and it's been driven about 12k miles since I've had it. There is hardly any wear.

Driving comparable cars with similar power will show you how good of a tire they are....

I have sumitomo htrzs. They are okay for driving daily but they are bad at the track. 315/35/17s were only like 110

Joe makes a really good point here. Tires are your first (and sometimes last) contact with the road. If they don't do their job, the most impressive spec-ed car on the road performs like crap.

Not to sound too much like a parent, but they could mean the difference before life and death.

BFG 275/40/17 Drag Radials in the back. They grip pretty good....this year though, I've got some extra power and they just leave two long black lines from a stop (at least when they're at drive around town pressure). Hopefully at the track deflated and heated they hook better.

Wear wise they suck, I've got about 2K miles on them and they look fairly worn.

They suck ass in wet weather. They would suck even more ass if I was stupid enough to drive on them in snow.

They flex a little, but handling isn't TOO bad with them on.

In the front I've got Nitto 245/45/17 555s. Nice tires all around.

Hankook Ventus HRII in 255/45-17. They do well for my needs. Very good tire despite it's low price.

I have those on my A6. They do well in the rain and snow.

BTW, I disagree with the comment about getting what you pay for with tires, at least to an extent. Sure you should generally expect better quality when you pay more. But my ASX tires are a perfect example. I had Pilot Sport A/S (or whatever their most expensive Pilot tire is) tires on my A6 when i bought it. I got a flat, and replaced that one tire. Well, it turns out I had one of the remaining 3 that was really worn (don't know why, prolly the previous owner had a flat or two before). Anyway, I could have bought the one more Pilot or a whole set of new Kumho ASX tires (ya, there're that expensive!!!). So I got the ASX tires. They perform great. Pretty comparable to the Pilots in fact. And tons, tons cheaper.
