Hey guys, I dunno if this should be in the tech section or not, but here it goes......I've been lurking here for a while now, and am soon gunna be in the market for a 99-01 GT vert with a stick. Is there anything to watch out for, or did Ford change any of the engineering for any of the years due to faulty parts >>> I have an 01 G Cherokee - they changed the brake design in 02' because the 99-01' were crap as the same was for the hvac..hense I shoulda bought an 02' or newer. Again, anything to watch out for besides not buying a high milage car (duh). You guys know all about these cars and hopefully you could steer me in the right direction and be informed before I buy. TIA

Firstly the default text size should work just fine, lol. as for 99 and 00' check to see if the intake manifold was replaced with a alluminum cross-over, if not it'll evetually need that. 01' nothing really needs to be looked at. A compression test would be wise on any of them, i believe 10psi variance over all the cylinders and lower is preferred.

This is mine, see how it's grey in the front of the intake manifold (behind alternator, upper Rad hose is connecting to it)? that means it's aluminum, if that's black then it's composite

thx dude................would most 99-00 have the swap dun already, is it a common. Why the swap to aluminum, the composite cracks?

yes, it pretty much does crack, my 98 GT cracked and screwed my world up. although i was reinbursed(spellcheck) for my problems, there are still small problems every now and then. other than that, if you can, go with an 02/03/04, im pretty sure you'll find one with a suitable price, i just picked up my 03 GT for 13k with 55k miles on it and its out of a dealership with an extended warrenty. so, dont just limit yourself u know.
