What to shift at with stock cam?

I did a advanced search and couldn't find anything. With the stock cam what do you guys recommend I shift at? 5k? My motor is bone stock with 14* timing

your factory rev limiter is set a 6250 so that's still pretty conservative. I just wouln't see any benefit of taking it over 6k doesn't seem to help my car very much.

stock h/c/i, i shift at 5500 and get pretty decent times for what i have, so i'm happy

why does an AOD stang shift at like 4500, so i'm missing out on some power???

I shifted my stock motor at 5400 or so (on an autometer tach) and it actually went a bit faster than when I shifted at 5000 on the same tach. I suggest playing around, start at 5000, then 5200, then 5400, etc... Also most shift first to second higher than they do second to third.

On a real tach you should shift around 5000 with the stock cam and intake, anybody who tells you 5500, 5800 or any of that is insane and probably still runs mid 9's in the 1/8 despite a huge list of mods. Now on the stock tach it's hard to say because they are so off at times.

I noticed a small gian when I shifted around 5200-5400 on my stock tach

5000-5200, I went [email protected] with a completely stock 104,000 mile long block shifiting at a 5100 shift light

I shifted 5000-5100 1st through 3rd and short shifted 4th at 4800.
It seemed to work the best for me.

On my stock head/cam motor with an Edelbrock intake I shifted at 5300 rpm.
