every time i wash my car, i obviously do the wheels/tires first. to clean them i always use the wesleys bleach white wheel cleaner on the wheels/calipers. but once my wheels dry they looks old and dull (cuz they are ). what can i put on them to make em shine, that will last? i tried using normal wax (gold class, NXT, #26) and they looked good for a day or two, then brake dust got all over it in spots. looked liek a freakin silver/black leopard! i even tried the meguiars tire gel. looks great for a day or two, tehn the same leopard crap! what do you guys use?

Sounds like your brake pads are the problem not the waxes. Change to a better set to reduce brake dust. Also it's going to be pretty hard to find a wax/sealent to with stand the heat generated. A paint sealent is probably going to last longer than a wax so NXT, Mothers syntax(sp?), and or Zaino would be a better choice. Good luck.

Michellin makes a new spray that you can get at auto zone thats a wheel wax that can stand the high temps and is very easy to use...better quality pads will produce lest dust and it will be a lighter less noticeable color..hope that helps!

yeah, i jsut bought the cheapest pads i could find at teh time. im gonna upgrade to stillen metal matrix pads when these run out, or when i get sick of them. i had teh stillens before and they were MUCH better than these $17 POS pads.

autozone carries that michelin stuff, eh? i read about it in 5.0 mag, never knew where to find it.

i mgiht be getting a set of 18's so we'll see. either way i need somethign for my wheels. they get nasty with how much i drive

Sorry to bump an old thread...but that Michelin stuff does not work, at least not for me anyways.

P21S wheel cleaner! It also works great at cleaning the tires. Remember to use a soft brush on the wheels and a stiff brush on the tires.
Then protect the wheels with a sealant like collinite SS 126. This can withstand the high brake temperatures. Also treat the tires with a dressing after they are cleaned and dried.
You might try ceramic brake pads. They don't dust at all!
