I use alcohol and a couple q-tips. Brake cleaner works as well, as long as it evaporates.

I use electric contact cleaner, leaves zero residue. But any alcohol-based cleaner should work fine.

There is supposed to be a new cleaner out now that is specifically for the MAF sensor. Safe, no residue, and after applying just wait 20 or 30 minutes then start the car.

Most auto stores should have it, but like mentioned above......the electric cleaner works well too.

I used brake cleaner and the fluid looked black as it ran out of the housing. I would kinda not want to use a q-tip as I was afraid of even the slightest touch maybe breaking the wires.

I also use electrical contact cleaner. If you use brake cleaner, make sure it's the non-flammable/residue-free variety.

I simply just use soap and water with a q-tip. That's is what the boys at ford use so there is my $.02

Car nut is correct. I can't remeber who makes it (GumOut) comes to mind but I am not 100% sure.
