 If you´ve upgraded your springs, what brand and specifications are you using?
Even though my cam (XE270HR) with .512 lift and cobra intake won´t support too much beyond 5800rpm (if so), I think it´ll be safer if I had upgraded valves (another mod I´m thinkin is 1.7 rr). It´s not in my plans changing cam by now, in case you´re just wondering.
I appreciate any info.

I saw you got no replies so I thought I'd throw this at you.

I'm using the standard springs that come on the 165's simply because Ed C said they would be OK with the cam he cut for me.

Why not call Jason at AFR and see what he has to say?

:nice: Thanks for your interest. Jason in another topic has told me with this cam and lift, there´d be no reason to upgrading. I wanted to hear some experiences and was just thinking to do this before installing the heads , for peace of mind..But as I see, should leave it alone and spend on anything else.

I didn't have a suggestion for you, that's why I didn't reply. I am going to upgrade my springs here in the next few weeks due to my mishap, but the stock AFR springs were fine for my combo and I never had a problem since I put the AFR's on in early 2001.

I ran the "upgraded" AFR springs (part #8032) from the time I bought my AFR's. Later on I upgraded them to Comp Cams 918's ("bee hives"). I didn't really have any trouble with the AFR springs, so that's what I would recommend...
