What vehicles did the orginal tubular GT-40 intake come on?

What about the uppers? My problem is that I bought one on ebay and the guy said it was a ford racing upper. However the ford racing cover plate for it does not fit. The ford racing catalog says that the cover will not fit the production upper. So I am thinking I have a production upper intake.....

Back in the 90's, Ford produced a GT-40 marine engine that could be found in things like Nautiques and Hydrodynes. I believe it was a 5.8L and I can't recall if it had a tubular or cast intake.

Okay, so the cover is Ford Racing but the upper intake I can't find any part number on. What does that mean?

I did notice in Ford Racing catolog for 2005 that the upper intake picture has the mounting holes for the cover in a different position then what I have.

I was really wanting to use this cover but I guess I will have to find another GT-40 intake with the different mounting holes on the top of it.

Dang, and this upper is super clean.....

The intake in your picture is one of the later styles of GT-40 uppers. You can tell by the threaded plug next to where the EGR spacer mounts, and the threaded holes for the cover. The early ones had small tabs welded on to mount the cover. You probably have an early cover, so the holes won't line up.

The upper intake will not have part number on it.

It would definitely be cheaper to just find a newer cover. GT-40 intakes and covers bring good money these days, and are not made any longer.

are you really going to sell the intake, just so you can use the cover? i'll give you $100 for the intake!
