I've seen a few sets of wheels on ebay that say they will fit Chevy... will they not fit Ford? I thought they used a unilug design that allowed them to fit both..

Usually the less expensive wheels can be found with a universal bolt pattern, most of the better wheels are bolt pattern specific.

Ford wheels ( as well as MoPar) use a 5 lug, 4 1/2 inch bolt circle. Chevy wheels use a 5 lug, 4 3/4 inch bolt circle. While there are slotted, uni-lug wheels out there, most wheel manufacturers these days have dual pattern wheels with a center cap hiding the lug nuts.

If I were to get a set of Cragar SS's, would I have to buy a Ford/Mopar specific set? Also, 4.5" backspacing is correct for classic mustangs right?

yes would have to be 5 on 4.5 specific since the lugs are exposed, 4.5 backspacing is correct, also in the front you cant go wider than 8in w/o rubbing and I hear there are problems associated with 16"x8" rims hitting the upper ball joint... if you go 8" it might be worth considering going to 17" also
