Well a friend of mine has a older LTD (a 79 I believe) and it is a beater/hand me down type car and it has a condition after you start the car where it will (without any type of consistency) give itself gas (revs up to a small rev) and then will go back down...and then it could be 5 seconds later or 17 seconds later and do the same thing. It probably will hold it up to around 15-1800 rpm (judging by ear) and then come back down. It will also try to "drive itself" sometimes (basically doing what it does at idle but when your actualy in gear). I was just curious to what some of you guys thought it might be. I don't think it would be a vaccum leak. It just doesn't seem consistent enough to me for one

What do you guys think...???

Sounds like the troll under the hood is messin' with the throttle cable. :D

What motor in this thing? Is it EFI? CFI???

That is a good question...I don't know what year it is...I'll try to find out tonight...but I'm pretty sure it is carb just by the age of it???

You need a priest. Seriously though i have seen a couple of older Fords driving themselves around in circles. I think it was on Cops. I don't know what caused it, but the cop had to jump in through the window to turn it off.

Well that would be because the car was left in Drive and the wheel was turned...nothing supernatural about it:)

On the LTD...I'm going to try to find out some more info on it...if I get to talk to the owner soon...but ideas are appreciated to help pinpoint some thoughts...anybody experienced anything like that:shrug:
