he did mention that he tunes safely, so it wont be too lean....he said better safe then sory. i do want to get good power though. give me some advice

I was going to go with Diablo, but I just couldn't do it.. I heard so much good stuff about SCT that I drive twice as far and paid even more money. I think it was deifnately worth it though. But I guess in theory they should be close to the same.. the differences lie in user adjustability it seems.

Diablo is fine, I use a predator custom tune in my car. When having a custom tune developed by a third party there is absolutely no difference in capability between a SCT XCal 2 and a Diablo Predator, they're just a different medium of delivering the tune to your PCM. People are easily duped into thinking new is better concerning flash tuners when they don't know much about tuning.

I had a predator in the past and it worked great. But I am going with SCT next time because Modular Depot is very close to me and they use SCT.

If you are getting a flash, or a chip, the quality lies in the hands of the tuner, not the software used. If you are getting a handheld tuner, then you need to compare features.

I know here at work we use SCT for the stangs and diablo for the trucks. I know of some really good SCT tuners. If you need one, lemme know

There is absolutely no difference if your getting a chip. Just like JStreet said. It's all in how good the tuner is. Adrenln, is Radical Racing who your talking about? He's tuning my car next week. We're going for the 550 RWHP mark after the Mr. Freeze install. He uses Diablo, but may switch to SCT soon. He'll then have the ability to tune both.

As far as the included base tunes go, they'll do about the same thing. Predator or Xcalibrator. Both will lean it out a bit, advance timing, calibrate for gears, shut off rear O2 sensors, etc. The difference in the end user tools (handheld tuners) is more in the features of the tool. What can it adjust? How much? What other capabilities do you get? Do you want to tweak the tune while in your car? Or do you want to tweak the tune on a desktop or laptop PC?

If you're looking at a custom tune made by a professional using dyno data, then it really lies in the skill and experience of the tuner. Not the brand of tools he/she uses.

As far as support goes, I've heard good and bad about both sides. If you read other message boards and hear all praises, check to see who sponsors that board. You'll be amazed at how much bias there is out there. Check out the message boards that cater to both brands. You'll get a much better comparison.

Also watch out for the brand-loyal people. They crack me up. They'll chant "Go brand X!" or "Brand X all the way!" without really backing up their cheers.

I have some of my personal comparison notes in my cardomain thing.

Well if you like a praticular tuner go with them. I am leaning towards SCT because you can upgrade the package to be your own tuner. You can get an xcal 2 with a custom tune and down the road upgrade to the pro racer package and do your own tuning. I like expandabilty.

If you the tuner is competant there should be no difference from you point of view though as the software you tune the car with is irrelevant if you tune it correctly.

I had a predator once and I hated it. For example when you change the timing it changes by a % instead of a whole #, so you cant even get 1 full degree out of it. All the tuners around the country are changing to SCT, I wonder why? Heres another example of why you should go SCT, http://www.corral.net/forums/showthread.php?t=673195. The customer service is also 100x better with SCT. Save yourself the trouble and get a tune from MPH or MD.
