I drive a 1993 Jeep Wrangler 5-speed most of the time now because of gas. I haven't driven my GT in three weeks:sad:. It is in good shape despite having over 100,000 miles. It is weak as hell though because of the little 4-cylinder it has in it. I am looking at getting a 2004 Wrangler X. A dealer here has the hardtops with A/C, 4.0 liter, 5-speed, CD player, etc. for only $19,500! I get a bunch of rain in the summer and snow in the winter here in Arkansas so having a SUV/4x4 is nice.

Depending on what happens in the near future (my wife wants to start a family) our next vehicle might be a used honda S2000 or an audi TT convertible for her, or an infinity G35 coupe for us (me!). If the family thing starts sooner than expected, I will be looking for something a little bigger than the escape... maybe the ford freestyle or an explorer. I LOVE the new dodge magnum though too... but its a dodge.

The Honda S2000 and G35 coupe are actually my two top choices for a daily driver (although the G35 is too expensive for me). I've got my fingers crossed for the Honda in the future. I think you would be pleased with either car (not sure if you've been in the S, but if you enjoy the handling in your focus..."honey I'm taking your car to work" ), yet starting a family is pretty neat too. IMO the Audi is still a little overpriced in the used camps.

Sorry, I'm just an all around auto enthusiast, love talkin' cars!

On Topic for Nathan, more possibilities: SVT Focus, Escort ZX2

My daily driver is my 95 GT. Was kind of a bad time to decide to put a supercharger on it . I plan on buying a new Ford Ranger 4X4 Entended cab this fall to be my daily driver b/c its becomming to expensive to drive the stang everyday plus I only want to use it mostly as a show/ strip car.

my daily driver

mine is a 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD. It also serves as the tow vehicle for my 94GT. I would never ever buy a Ford truck. But I LOVE the Mustang, always have, and always will

My 94 GT is my daily driver... I get around 240 to a tank (mixed backroads/city driving) so I'm not complaining at all.

Well, all of you guys must have some money, all of these cars are more expensive than the mustangs we drive. I work at subway so my dd is my tempo that I bought for 675, I drove it though the winter and she still goes.

My daily driver is an '02 ford focus ZX3 auto, and we have a '02 Ford Escape XLT 4X4. I LOVE the focus, it s a really fun car to drive though it is seriously lacking in power. It handles AWESOME and gets on average 29mpg, with a best of 35. I don't think 29mpg is bad concidering I drive it 700 miles or so a week and make about 20 stops a day in city driving. I plan on keeping it until it dies then I'll do the 5.0L swap in it!!! The escape is an AWESOME vehicle too, its got a good bit of get up and go.. I ran a 16.6 at 82mph in it (I think it'd take the saturn Vue despite what was listed above) It goes EVERYWHERE in the snow since its FWD and the rear wheels kick in when needed, and I get 20-21mpg in it. I absolutely love it.

Depending on what happens in the near future (my wife wants to start a family) our next vehicle might be a used honda S2000 or an audi TT convertible for her, or an infinity G35 coupe for us (me!). can't wait till I'm outta school and can put the stang away and afford another car for the winter... massachusetts roads + too much torque + Pirelli 8000s = more donuts then a police convention

My 95 GT Vert is my only car. 17 in town, 22-24 freeway. I don't put a lot of miles on it so although the price of gas has affected me some, it hasn't killed me yet.

To me it makes no economic sense to spend hundreds, if not thousands, on a beater or other car just because it gets better mileage. If nothing else, the extra insurance costs will negate the minimal amount of money you'll save on gas. Do the math yourself.

But to help, assume you drive 12,000 miles a year and average 20 mpg on 87. 18 months ago gas here was $1.36 here a gallon. That's $876 a year, or $68 a month.

Today it was $2.27 a gallon. Using the same numbers, that's $1362 a year or $113.50 a month, an increase of $45.50 a month.

Using these numbers, does another car make sense? I don't think so.

On the other hand, if you need something else to drive in winter's snow and ice, that's a different issue altogether.

Just my $.02.
