mighty, yes I'd love to get a 99+ CBR 600 or R6. Something fun but not insanely fast to start off with.

I've had one of both and they are bad. I now have an R1. Now isn't the time to buy though because since the gas is so high, everyone and their brother is out buying.

I daily drive a 93 Saturn SL1 5spd. Gets over 25mpg with around town driving and probably over 30mpg with hwy driving. It's nice having a daily driver, the Mustang is nice weather/weekends only now

Bike = ~40mpg
My Car = ~17mpg

I think its the right time for a vehicle that gets better gas mileage

Other than my cobra, I have a VW Passat, a VW Jetta, and a V-tec civic hatchback I use to putt around in. I'm hoping to sell off everything but the cobra, and get a 62-64 Chevy II to use as my daily driver, but when that happens soon, it may be a toss-up between which will be my daily driver.

I mean't that most bike dealers are raising their prices because more people are out buying.

My daily driver is my silver stang. It get's about 200-225 city, and about 250-275 highway miles. It only takes about 25 dollars to fill her up to the rim. You gotta love being in the Uk and gettin a discount on gas. I don't think I'm comin back to the states anytime soon.

How are you guys getting such bad gas mileage in your mustang? I can get 250 miles easily before filling up at 1/8th tank.

Good, bad or indifferent, the Daily driver is a (hanging his head in shame) a 1997 Dodge Caravan.... It is actually pretty practical since I haul 3 kids (to school and daycare) and a fellow employee M-F to work. On the weekends, I usually drive my 12hp lawn mower, trailer hauler, doing yard work. Oh, and my '94 vert... Well it's now in the process of getting the interior redone. Just order a set of Katzkin replacement seat covers , and new carpet for the floor.

Half of his payment in his primary <A TITLE="Click for more information about car" STYLE="text-decoration: none; border-bottom: medium solid green;" HREF="http://search.targetwords.com/u.search?x=5977|1||||cars|AA1VDw">car</A>? That's good. But how did his car payment go down when he bought another car? Or are you talking about his monthly <A TITLE="Click for more information about insurance" STYLE="text-decoration: none; border-bottom: medium solid green;" HREF="http://search.targetwords.com/u.search?x=5977|1||||insurance|AA1VDw">insurance</A> premium? And how much?

What did his jeep cost him? And how much more was the insurance for the jeep? Did you ask him that? Overall, how much out of pocket did it cost him to buy the jeep, get it insured, and then buy gas for both? Jeeps are not known as economy cars.

If he bought it for fun, that's another story. Jeeps are cool.

But let's hear all the facts.

The jeep costed 13k and his payments are 150 a month his insurance went down 75 a mounth with the addition of a second car....his mustang gets 10-11mpg 10.5:1 A/F raito and 500rwhp......so any extra 75 a month for a second car isn't bad...and if it was me i would get an even cheaper smaller car like a AWD subaru or somthing so insurance goes down even more....also i he did but 4k down on the car but it gets 16-18mpg so thats a pretty good incress

My nice-weather daily driver is a modded 99 SVT Contour. It'll pull 28 mpg cruising at 85 w/ the air conditioning blowing. When the weather turns nasty (or when I have to haul stuff for work) I drive my longbed 01 F-150 XLT 4x4. I filled the tank this weekend and it cost me $55. Talk about depressing....

The best mpg I've managed in my 'stang is 19 and that was cruising on the highway at moderate speeds so I could keep my buddy in his 60 Impala in my sight.

My other non-daily drivers are:
91 Olds 442 w/ factory W41 package (runs 14.6 quarter bone stock) and gets 30mpg on the highway. Not too bad for a normally aspirated 4 cylinder...

58 Impala 348 big block which gets 8 mpg when I'm lucky.

On nice days its my 95 Stang 5.0, usually at 1/4 tank after ~200 miles. On not so nice days, it's my 94 Explorer Limited, fully loaded. It gets the same or worse mileage than the stang, but goes longer on one tank.

The 94 GT is the daily driver 62miles round trip. Right now it's averaging 24mpg in combination driving. That's up from 22mpg before the 180* t-stat and u-drive pullies, alt pulley not installed yet. Not only that, but since I've installed t-stat, I can run 87 octane w/o ping!

The 86 Merc averages about 20mpg in combo driving but has a larger tank. That's the wife's car though.
