What's needed to swap cassette player with cd player?

I have a 1999 Contour SE Sport that came with a cassette player and I wanted to get a CD player for it instead.
I figured my best bet was to get an OEM one from Ebay that was actually meant for my car so that's what I did.
I also have read on several forums that other folks have done this same thing and it was a simple 1 to 1 swap.
However, when I got the old stereo out and tried to put the new one in I found that one of the plugs didn't fit.
What is needed to get it to work? A new wiring harness? Some kind of adapter? Should I just take it somewhere?

Here are a couple pics:

Is this $6 item all that I need?

Or do I need this one for $100 as well?

Thanks.

Can you post pics of the plug arrangements of both sterio's and the wiring plugs your vehicle has? If your car dosn't have an amp and you need one, I have a ford factory amp that should work. (Need to verify plug configuration there as well...) And I can do ya' better on the price.

I'm a bit confused.
What do you need beside what's in these pics?

Sorry, missed the links to the plugs in your first post. Your car has no amplifier, you will need one in order to get it to work. But also note that there is a seaperate wiring harness that goes from your factory plugs, to the amp and then to your head unit, wich you will need. I have one out of a '93 mustang that would plug in and function correctly, but the wires probably wouldn't route correctly in your car without extending them...

Oh, I see.

So neither of these would work?

That harness is an aftermarket harness to adapt an aftermarket sterio to a vehicle with a factory amp. That particular piece wont help you on your quest. The harness you need is an OEM one, as you are trying to use an OEM sterio. There are other ways to adapt the sterio to your vehicle, but they involve either a factory or aftermarket amp and fabricating your own harness using OEM and aftermarket plugs.
