Hmmm so many to choose from.
Truck:
2003-current Dodge Ram quad cab, 2wd, Hemi, short bed. Newer style 20" factory wheels and a leveling kit. Preferably black. My dad has an '04 and it's such a nice truck. It rides excellent, has great power, and will tow damn near anything you attach to it.
1998-2004 F-150 ext. cab or crew cab, stepside bed, 4x4 5.4L. Put a little lift on it and some tires and call it perfect.
SUV:
1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 LTD. If you know the truck, you know why.

one of the newer lexus is250's or C-class mercedez. THeres a lot of great deals on those cars every month. Wish i had one. AHHH, how i would love luxury.

Mine daily driver would be a Porsche 944. Maybe a 951 Turbo, maybe its 968 descendant but more likely one of the later N/A 944 coupes - I keep going back and forth on it but the 3.0L S2 would probably be perfect although I'd probably really be happy with any 85-1/2 or later car as a DD.
I considered picking up a 944 instead of the Mustang since Turbo prices were falling into my price range at the time but I decided the Mustang would be a safer bet in the long run since I needed something I could depend on and wouldn't kill me price-wise or parts-availability-wise if it did break down and the 'Stang wouldn't require as much maintenance either. One of these days though...
If I needed something practical, like, schlep a bunch of stuff and people around, I'd probably get some big, 3800 powered GM boat. We miss our 2001 Buick LeSabre - lots of room for my long-ass legs and an actual adult could still realistically sit behind me for more than just a quick trip down the street, a huge trunk, reliable (keep an eye on that composite intake though), plenty of power for normal car duties, nice soft ride that made ****ty roads disappear but still handled competently, ate up miles on the interstate, decent sound factory stereo and it got fairly good mileage too (better than the slightly smaller-sized and slightly smaller, more-modern 3.5L engined Impala we've got now does). It did eat window regulators like candy though.
One of the Panther triplets would be pretty appealing too - if I needed something cheap tomorrow, I'd snag a P71 interceptor in a heartbeat. A Marauder would be especially sweet and a long wheel-base Town Car would be a fantastic highway cruiser.
If it's gotta be a four-door though, I'd really like a Lincoln LS. I'll take one with a 5 speed please.

I'm very very happy with my daily driver. 2007 Mazda Mazdaspeed3. Don't know that it's my dream d.d., but seeing your criteria, it would probably be my number 1 pick. 265hp stock and still gets mid 20's for mpgs.
Oh and a pic:
I really, really wish they would put that motor in the sedan. I just can't imagine myself rocking the hatchback.
BMW M6. Seats 5 (100 HP per passenger), corners like it's on rails, the top rolls down, gas mileage is decent and...... it has a cup holder.
this but a coupe and the SMG 7 speed. The mustang would be reserved for being towed to road courses.

i'm living the dream in my $300 car. mine does have 5% tint all around it and a sweet spoiler made from the factory luggage rack on the trunk. i can drive for 2 weeks on a single tank and the AC is ice cold!!
call me crazy but i love driving old GM sedans as DD cars. this makes my 3rd GM beater in the past 5 years. i always made a profit on selling them too!

thats what im talking about, i have a 2004 grand am 4 banger that i DD, and it gets great mileage. My jeep is terrible

They did, just with the mazda6. I had the same opinion all the way up til the very first time i rode in one. Then everything changed. Then i test drove it, and my opinion got even better. I love this car.
2011 Mustang v6 with a blower. Shouldn't affect MPG that much on the highway, until you put your foot in it.
Damn. That would be a good combo. I hadn't even thought about putting blowers on the V6s till you said something. I bet that beast would put out well over 400 rwhp, and get 30+ mpg. Sick nasty. Not many cars can say that.

This is the car I plan to build. I'm going to buy a regular cougar body and make an Eliminator clone with a 428 CJ. Just thinking about it excites me, but it's going to be a few more years

Excellent thread. I think about this a lot actually. Right now, I'm driving a company car which is a 2010 4cyl. FWD Ford Escape XLT and I can see why it's such a popular vehicle as a DD for so many people- ~23mpg in mixed driving (30mpg hwy), Easy to drive, 6 speed with decent power, room and comes in handy picking up lawn mowers, handling lacrosse and baseball gear - so the utility equation for me can't be ignored. It would be nice if it was a little sportier, so I would go with a Mazda CX-7 turbo and it's a handler too for those fun curves. Boy, Mazda is a popular choice. Love the 3s and Speeds 3 as well.
