I'm looking for your valued opinions on a new wheel for my car. This fall it's going in and getting stripped down inside & out, body work done and repainted, new trim, headlights the works ( keep an eye for the build thread) anyways I'm thinking of a new look wheel wise for the car when it's done and need to figure it into the budget. It's going to stay a "GT" and white.

Here is what is on my car now..'93 Cobra's which I really liked when I got them. I'm just not sure if they flow with the "GT" anymore.

I'm really leaning towards these, Pony R's. I like how they have the look of what was on the car back in '91 giving that stock look but in 17" with wider widths and some added style.

I also like the looks of the '03 cobra wheel on the fox.. I couldn't get a decent pic of a white gt but this gives you the idea of how they look

and my last choice of wheel is the saleen replica wheel..

So help me pick.

I like the wheels that are on it now but if I had to pick a different wheel I would go pony R's.

'03-'04s if you're going 5 lug with bigger brakes. Pony Rs if you're staying 4. The '03-'04s show too much brake, and the stock rear drums would look really lame.

I think I'm the minority when I say, the 93 Cobras look awful on almost every car. I think either choice you decide on would be a 150% turn around. Out of the 3... Pony Rs or SCs... I like the SCs but Pony Rs just look right on a fox!

I thought I was the only one who doesn't like those 93 cobra wheels. I would say the 03 wheels or the saleen replicas. My first choice would be a 5 lug conversion and some pro-stars!!!

pony r's all the others require a 5 lug/rear disc swap to look decent

Wheels

I absolutely hate 93 Cobra wheels. I have always thought they look like a crappy off brand Ebay wheel or something. Funny to hear there are a few others who share that opinion.

I am not a fan of chrome wheels on a white car either though, and I am probably the only person in the world who doesn't like Pony Rs. I just think they look like someone threw up chrome.

On a white car I think the black SC wheels would look sick.

View attachment 250083

I guess out of the ones you posted I would go with the machined face 03 Cobras cause they are not 93 Cobras and are not chrome.

Pony R's, but I'm always a bit biased towards a clean, "stock" look. The 17x8/10" set-up is my favorite. The deep dish isn't very subtle if you really want the stock look but it looks pretty damn cool.

Check out the Pony R thread over at Corral.net if you haven't already.

I have a set of machine face replica '03 cobras in 4 lug on my red gt. But I have found that if I were to stay 4 lug, and not go to 18"s, I would favor the Saleen wheels.

allballsmustang has these chrome 03's

93 cobra wheels only look good on a 93 cobra, Go 5 lug and you'll be able swap around as much as you like

wow I didn't relize that people so many people hated the '93 cobra wheels. It's funny I get compliments on them all the time . I did however ? them myself after getting them, they just don't fit for some reason but they aren't has bad has ome wheels I have seen . I tried to be a little different. I like the saleen sc which I would do in silver but the pony r has my eye for some reason. I spent some time looking over the thread on the pony r on corral and they look good. I kinda like the idea of bringing it back the factory look with the pony r but running the staggered 17x8 with 17x9 or 10's and keeping the outside looking stock GT and when the funds come up to build the motor I want having that nice sleeper look, kinda of a plain jane looking stang with steam under the hood . That's the goal for the car anyway but those sc's are damn sexy also, I hate decisions!!
