Wheels for my 1969 Fastback

i'm looking into getting a nice set of wheels for my '69, but it seems like my choices aren't exactly plentiful... i don't want to get bullits or torque thursts because so many people have them...i've thought about some 18" mag 500's, but i think that i've settled on either the boyd coddington junk yard dog or smoothe II's... i just don't know what i'm going to be able to fit, without spacing the wheels out joe dirt style! i'm wanting 18x10's in the back and 18x8's in the front...maybe 295s or so in the back with 245's or so in the front. does anyone know what back spacing i'm going to need to go with and/or even if they're going to fit in the first place? also, here are a couple of pics of my car, and if you have some ideas for wheels, let me know.

btw, i just bought this thing, so i know that i've got some work to do...one thing is the chrome around the grill, which i'm going to do after it's painted. i'm going to keep it the same color and definitely keep the black back panel, but i don't think that i'm going to keep the sripes...i'll probably just paint the scoop (or possibly the etire hood) black and paint the rest of the car silver with the black rear panel, of course...

You should also check out Centerline, they make some nice wheels as well.

Centerline Mojave's would look really nice on your car and you don't see too many Mustangs with them on.

Dude, the Junkyard dog wheels look sick! I think you should keep the stripes because they make the fastbacks stand out.

thanks for the suggestions! i wish that there were wheel selections for these cars like there are for the newer mustangs! i have the magneatos on my '00 GT, and it was a hard decision because of the (what seemed like) thousands of wheels to pick through...most of the classic mustangs that i see either have stock wheels or common aftermarket wheels (bullits, torque thrusts, cragars, etc.)... it's tough to find something that would look good!

I think a cool look is the FR500 wheels, that would be different, the Boyds still look like a TT2 knock off.

will the 94-04 FR500's and the like fit my '69? i guess that i would have to get some sort of adapter, assuming that the lug spacing is different... also, what about the backspacing? i like the FR500's, but i don't want them sticking outside of the fender.

I've been indecisive for almost 4 years now, not having the money to buy new rims, so I've been doing a lot of research. (actually it probably ended my marriage but, she was a GM woman anyway )

I hope they look sweet on your car.

To me that wheel looks too much like the Hot Wheels wheel that is 1/3rd the price from www.discounttiredirect.com

It really depends on the look you want to achieve. Think very carefully about this before buying wheels! If you want a retro but updated look, then TT2s or even upsized Cragar s/s might be good. If you want the modern-classic look, then the 18" Magnums are very tasteful without being "retro". If you want a more street rod, then the Boyds are probably a good choice. If you want more of an upscale street machine look, then a billet wheel like the GTX35 would be a good choice. If you want a race inspired look, then maybe an 18" minilite or GT40 (Eleanor) type wheel would be a good choice. And if you want a retro-modern OEM look (which is what I wanted), then consider a late model bullit or '03 Mach wheel, or even the FR500 wheels, which will all fit with a proper spacer/adapter.

I think you see my point... decide what your tastes are and then search out a wheel to fit that image.
