Wheels for my 1969 Fastback

Before I purchace, I'll beg (or pay deeply) someone to do a photochop of the car to make sure it has the right look. I'm shooting for a street machine look. A little classy but some what period correct.

I've seen a lot of wheels I like, but very few actually look good on a classic mustang.

thanks man!:)

btw, now i'm stuck between those gtx wheels and the 18" mag 500's...i'm just not sure... the good thing about the 500's is that they look so retro and right on the car...and luckily, i have a pic of an almost identical car with them, and it looks great. i'll post it up in a sec.

I love the 18" billet 500 mags!!! They look SWEEEEET! That would be my choice. I like them better than the late model mach 1's because they have more of a lip on them than the 03's. Plus they are nice and shiny!!!

Yeah, it's nice when you've got a good reference point for the wheels your considering, but otherwsie I agree with others about doing photochops or getting renderings before buying. That's why I started doing photochops 4 years ago... just to try different wheels on my car. I did nearly a hundred before finally reconfirming that I wanted the '03-'04 Mach wheels. In fact, even just before I went and bought 'em, I did these final 'chops:

Stanggt40, keep in mind that regardless which wheels and tires you go with, it's only part of what makes a stang like yours look sick. After installing 17" bullits on my car at the stock ride height, it just didn't look great. After a 2" drop all around, suddenly looks awesome. But with that came suspension issues like bump steer etc. Good luck either way, can't wait to see it.

I personally think these would look sweet on a '69.

I think thats what I'm going to go with. 17x 8 up front and 17x9 in back
Mmmm... Coys. Those are fine looking wheels, and reasonably priced compared to legit versions like the Edelbrocks or "Eleanor" wheels.

will the 94-04 FR500's and the like fit my '69? i guess that i would have to get some sort of adapter, assuming that the lug spacing is different... also, what about the backspacing? i like the FR500's, but i don't want them sticking outside of the fender.

thanks,

brad

The FR500 will fit. My 68 copue has 18x8 (narrowed 18x9 +36)on the front with a 245/40 tire and a 1/4" spacer to keep the rim off of the upper control arm at full lock. The GW front springs have 1 full coil removed. Your 69 might have enough room for the 18x9 without narrowing.

On the back I have 18x9 (+24) with a 275/40 tire and no spacers. I had 18x10's with a 295/35 tire on the back but it rubbed a little so I went smaller instead of raising it up. I had the GW leafs dearched 2". In this pic the car still has the 18x10's. You might be able to squeeze in the 18x10 295 combo.
