I know a lot of you guys out there are using the granada swap, and I will be doing it too using the kit that dennis is offering http://www.discbrakeswap.com/html/catalog.html

I currently have the 14 by 5 gt rims and Dennis told me they wouldnt fit. So I am going to be in the market for new rims. According to his email:

"The wheels will have two fitment problems. The snout of the
granada rotor (the hub part were the dust cap fits) is larger diameter
than the one on the Mustang. It will not fit through the Hole in the
center of the wheel. You can have the snout milled down to 2.44" to fix
this problem. The second fitment problem is that the caliper from the swap
can interfer with the inner surface of the wheel. This can sometimes be
fixed using a wheel spacer or grinding a bit of the caliper. The best
solution to all of these problems is to get aftermarket wheels known to
fit. You could sell the styled steel wheels that you have for decent money
if they are in good shape and/or original."

So i need everyones imput as to what wheels you are running and how they fit. Thanks guys

Basically, any aftermarket 15" rim (or larger) is going to be fine with the Granada brakes.
My 15" Cragar's have tons of clearance for instance.

Just another good reason for upgrading, who wants 14" rims anyways!

you know....if you look on my chart and scan down the brakes column you can see what wheel size and backspacing people use with G-brakes...which is basically any 15 inch rim you want to buy as long as the backspacing is correct.

The 15x7 with 4.25bs will work on all 4 corners

i looked and the only one with a 15 by 6 up front runs factory discs. so what backspacing do i need to run the g-brakes on a 15 by 6 rim up front???

Hey wait, did the Granadas have 15" wheels, or some wierd 14s that fit over the brakes?

Yes, the Granada has 14" stamped steel wheels. I think the main problem and difference between the original 14" and aftermarket aluminum wheels is that the stamped wheels have a smaller diameter on the inside of the rim. This is due to a stepdown that is drawn into the inner rim of the steel wheel to give it extra strength. This step down is absent on later disc brake steel and most if not all aluminum aftermarket wheels.

Matt,

Why not run a 7" wide rim up front?

I want to run a more narrow wheel up front and a larger, wider one in back. If i run a 15 by 7 up front a nd a 15 by 8 in back, i feel they will be really close in size and it doesnt appeal for the look i am going for i guess? i dont know, maybe I have lost my mind...

There was also a difference between the steel wheels back in the late 60's to early 70's. The original drum brake wheels that came on my 67 wouldn't work with the 71-72 Stang discs I swapped onto it. The wheels from my brother's 70 Torino GT ( factory discs) would. I don't recall the size of his wheels, but am pretty sure they were also 14's.

I understand the look...
Used to run a 5" wide rim up front.
Great for drag racing, horrible for auto-x LOL

haha at least i know im not alone. If cragar made the street star in a 5 inch wide model, i would get it, but they only have 6, so i will go with a 15 by 6 in front with 3.5 backspacing and a 15 by 8 in back with with something like a 4.25 backspacing. Does anyone know the bolt patter measurements for the granadas? are they different than the 5 lug i have now???

thanks

The Granada has the same pattern as Mustang V8, 5 lug on 4.5" diameter.

They are the Cragar drag stars.
The rims still have tires on them so I would need to mismount them.
Any interest?
