When i brake hard i get a wierd sound

its happened a few times where i have to brake hard and i get a loud clanking/clicking/fast, hard, rattling sound. It doesnt seem to effect me stopping, i wanna know wtf it is so i can fix it if i have to.

check your drum brakes...sounds like something is messed up back there. it could also be wheel bearings or tie rod ends.

what should i be checking for????????? sounds like its coming from the front.

are the brakes good? it could be really worn brakes and the backing is tearing into the rotor? if its not the brakes its more than likely something to do with the suspension

alright ill check that and the tranny fluid tomorrow. i dont have a torque wrench to torque em back down. should i just tighten them as much as i can when i put the rim back on there? (dumb question)

i would tighten them as good as possible. youre not going to be able to torque them enough to hurt anything

Tried to listen for it but...

k well i went ahead and looked at the rear brakes. the pads seem a little glossy. im not to sure what that means, but thats what it is. also i braked hard a few times (i kno that makes so sense, but you know what i mean) and i listened for the sound more closely. it sounds wierd, but it sounds as if something is hitting my mufflers. one of my mufflers is 1/2" or less away from my driveshaft. im not sure if its even possible, but i have no clue . it also made a similar sound when pulling a uturn in a parking lot. that time it sounded like a tie rod, or my new wheels rubbing on something. ill get the car back on stands and look at it. can someone tell me what my brakes should look like when they need to be changed. (the rear drums).

correction, one side does have either brake fluid or grease in it. i know that cant be good. what does that mean?

you could have shot wheel cylinder...thats what it sounds like to me. or the axle seal is bad. but im betting on the wheel cylinder. that wouldnt cause a noise though.

ok, what does it take to replace a wheel cylinder. (parts, cost, desc. or labor)
and i still have no idea on what the noise could be.
see pic of rear pass. drum. it is very dirty.

also, could the fix wait until september when i get in my autoshop class and i can use their lift,tools, and expertise(sp)
