When is a good time to add high flow fuel pump?

Hey, I have an 88GT with some work done to it. F303 cam, Gt40 Iron heads, 1.6RR, Gt40 upper and lower intake, 24lb injectors, 76mm MAF, full MAC exhaust, and 4:10 gears. I just did the upper half of the motor and have not driven the car yet due to snow. Do you guys think that upgrading to a better flowing fuel pump is needed at this time or can I wait? I really dont want the engine to go lean and melt a piston or something. My other question is: with the above setup listed, how much HP can I expect on the dyno? Maybe someone has had the same set up so please share. The last question is with the above set up, how reliable would the car be if I put a powerdyne S/C to top it off?? THANX!

Any injector size beyond 19 lbs needs a bigger fuel pump. Minimum size for 24 lbs injectors is 112 LPH. Forced induction will mean you should have a 255 LPH pump. A larger pump won't hurt anything, the regulator just returns the excess fuel to the tank.

You might be around 250 the wheels, and thats probably a little high. You probably don't need the 24's so a fuel pump isn't a must. All that being said, if you feel like its a good time to upgrade, the pumps aren't expensive. And go with the 255 like said above.

If you have the original 17-18 year old pump in there, the time is now. Well, maby not but think about it, they rarley last that long anyways. My original pump I never saw, it had gone out before I got it and there was a 95lph non original piece in there, still put in the 255lph. Your fuel pump is the weakest part of the stock fuel system. 88lph is barley enough for maxxed 19's, and it won't flow that at 40psi. Often pumps get weak as they get older, and you can have pressure and low flow. One way to test is to use a fuel pressure gauge and when driving at WOT, watch and if it dropps even a little, then it is weak.
