Where can I get coils tested?

I've been battling a "stumbling" issue at idle to 2k RPM. I replaced plugs and coils (among other things) and still had the issue. I ended up taking it to the mechanic to have it put on the analyzer and, after $460 he tells me the coils aren't strong enough. They're Accel's by the way.

What's the chances putting in a new set of coils would cause the exact same issue ???

Where can I send my OEM coils to be tested ? Anyone have any idea?

If you have a Haynes manual and a multitester you can do it yourself using the procedure outlined in the Haynes manual.

That will make sure the internal wireing isn't broken but it won't show if the internal insulation is breaking down when high voltage is applied.

I read about a company you sent your injectors to and they would rebuild and test operation and spray pattern. I'm sure there must be a company that does coil testing under real conditions.

Find somebody with a megohm meter and use that. Not sure if autoparts store have/rent them.

Damned if he wasn't right. I cleaned up the stocker coils and bought a set of Autolite Platinum OEM's and the problem got 85 to 90% better. It's OEM from now on for me. I'm sending the injectors out to Marren Fuel Injection here in Connecticut (Oxford) and they'll clean 'em, replace o-rings and filter baskets and check them for flow rate and pattern for $25 ea.

I think that will get rid of the last 15% of my slight ruff idle and surging at cruise.
