Where to buy rubber axle bushings?

I'm getting ready to replace a handful of suspension components on my '90 and am wondering about the rear axle bushings where the upper control arms mount. I keep reading people saying to stay away from the poly bushings, but use the spherical bushings instead. Then I read others saying they just keep the stock bushings and don't replace them.

I don't know what mine look like yet, or if they need to be replaced, but if they are worn are OEM style rubber bushings available for these locations?

I'm pretty sure both CJ Pony Parts and Late Model Restoration sell them. For a street car, I'd stick with the rubber bushings. They'll transfer a lot less road noise than anything else.

Go to the parts store and get a set for an SN95, the rubber is a little stiffer.

Like was said, you can buy them at any auto parts store. Get the Cobra or 1994 and newer Mustang bushings. They are twice as stiff as the Fox bushings. Getting the old bushings out is a tough job for most people. Putting the new ones in is even harder unless you have the Maximum Motorsports bushing installation tool. id personaly save the hassel of trying to put new bushings in and just get new arm's UPR sells a nice control arm package and offers a 10% discount to stangnet members.

I just replaced the bushings in my control arms. Steedas' instruction detailed the process and I used it for the first time. Chuck up a 1/4" bit in your drill and drill right down the side between the bushing and the shell, (then hold on while the drillbit automatically follows the inside of shell and walks the old bushing out as you pull the bit out.

Yeah, but wouldn't he still have to replace his worn out housing bushings anyway? He was inquiring about the housing bushings.

ahhh those... i was thinking the lower arms.

i used a air hammer to take mine out with a dull bit . heated up the ear on the housing and pounded them out in about 15 seconds

Thanks guys. I am talking about the bushings in the housing.

I'll check them out once I get the old control arms out (am installing new ones). If they need replaced I'll pick them up from the parts store for a SN.

I believe ford still sells them, that's where i got mine a while back.
Get the tool from MM, i drilled, air hammered, sledged etc, took forever. I wouldn't do it that way again.

I just did all mine. All poly except for spherical in the axle. Def a lof more road noise transfered into the car but it's not my DD car so it doesnt bother me but I def wouldnt want to ride it DD. I used a oxy/ac torch to heat them up and they pop right out. Used a small piece of wood and a large c-clamp to install new ones. Looking back I really should have just bought new control arms but I already had the Prothane kit in the shop.
