Where to find vintage plates???

I also have some matching plates that I got at a local swap meet. I'm halfway through restoring them, but this thread has reminded me to get back on it. Maybe I can have the '66 plates (which are black with white letters) on it by the time I'm done with the body work. :D

Hahah, that is awesome!

There are only half a dozen other driven 65-66 fastbacks in town that I know of. It's cool in a small-world kind of way to know of one originally from here. Mine was an original New Orleans car, but its been up here at least half of it's life.

say u get a set of vintage plates for the state that you live in. Louisiana, in my case. can you legally run those plates on the car? or is that not possible? only for front vanity plates? I think it'd be awesome to have some vintage plates instead of the new ones. :)

Meister--You could. I have a 66 plate from State Troup I on my 66. $32 dollars got it registered for you and it is a perm plate. No renewals. Since the lawsuits over "Choose Life" plates, LA has put the brakes on ALL speciality plates. ONce they get that settled, you should be able to do it again.

Got my 66--still in the shrink wrap from Angola (LA's Maximum Security Prison)--off ebay for $10. A guy in Hammond had it. Nothing like a local sale. The plate had never been on a car.

I'll snap a pic of my plate this evening if my camera behaves. The green matches my car perfectly.

:nice: Cool, i'd like to see the pic :) I'll look for some on ebay or in different places, and hold onto them 'till I can get them registered again. What are these "choose life" plates? I've not heard about those  Thanks for the info sir :nice:

They are the plates with a stork on them. They are the Pro-Life plates. Someone filed suite against their issue and the state stopped issuing any specialty plates.

I'm headed out to snap a pic, or try. Stupid camera doesn't want to autofocus.

My 67 had a '63 Calif black & yellow on it when I bought it. The first thing I did was unbolt it and toss it in the f'in garbage.

J/k. It's in the garage for safe-keeping. vintage plates are cool.
