Where to get Carbureted Tune??

I am new to this forum and I have a question about where to go for a proper tune for a 91 LX with a Ford Crate motor that is carburated? When I purchased the car recently the guy said it need a "fine tune".

When the throttle is fully open, the engine bogs and looses power. At mid throttle the response is just fine.

I live in Grand Rapids Michigan and would prefer a place on the west side of the state UNLESS there is a place further away that is worth the drive to get the car in the right hands.

Thanks

Do a lot of searching man, if I were you, I'd got to the local race track and search out the guys with the real hopped up old muscle cars, they either tune their own cars or know someone that tunes real good. Good luck!

This is what I know about the car:

302 5.0 Ford crate motor boss block
Windsor jr iron heads 58cc
Scorpion 1.6 rockers
Mac Shorty equal headers
H pipe into flowmax mufflers, sounds killer!
Edelbrock RPM
Holley 650 DP
New MSD coil
New autolite plugs
JE pistons
forged crank
373 gears
New rebuilt T-5 with NEW Centerforce DF clutch and all bearings, fork etc.
new ford racing aluminum girdle
9MM Ford wires
Battery relocate to trunk
BBK welded in sub frame connectors

I believe the Carb is new. Any thoughts in where to go for a proper tune done by someone who knows what they are doing?
Thanks:flag:

There is agood book you can buy to help you tune your Holley. I used it when 1st set up my Capri and it has helped me solve many issues with carb tuning. The best way to is to look at your plugs after a hard top end run. Black too much secondary jet, white not enough jet. If the carb is a newer one you can change out the air bleeds to help with the tune as well. Mine is an older one so I can only adjust with jets. Buy yourself a jet kit and a power valve, squrter kit too. These will save you money in the long run and make for on track adjustments. Remember weather can effect tune as well so if this is a street driver then look for a happy medium.

When people talk about "getting a tune", they're talking about someone that has the ability to electronically "tune" the computer. With your car, there is no computer to tune since its carbed. You need to find someone to set up the carb properly, not tune the computer. Talking to other people with carbs and finding out who they use is the best advice.

shops that do a dyno tune can still hook it up to the A/F meter and get it pegged down for best performance. 302-ss-coupe took his to get tuned on the dyno and has nothing but good things to say about it.

Turn the mixture screws all the way in and back each of them out a turn and a half. If that doesn`t help check around for vacuum leaks, fuel filter and maybe just a good cleaning will do!
