first time with my new car at the track. 2000 gt x-pipe, flowmasters, funtional ram air, bigger mass air and tb, pullies, 4.10 gears, pro 5.0 shifter, nitto dr's, dropped 2 inches. what rpm should i launch at and what rpm should i set the shift light to. and what do you think i will run.

Sorry, but you have to practice it for yourself. It even depends more on the track surface than on your bolt on-mods. The tires should spin a little, but not the whole way through the first gear.
Shift around 5500 rpm.

If you have the Nittos do this: drop the tire pressure to @15-16psi,
enter burnout puddle and bring the revs to between 3500-5000 and hold unitl the nittos are seriously white smoking( 7 or 8 good seconds) and then ride the burnout out. Stage and leave the line at minimum 4000RPM. The drags will hook. If you have gears be ready quick because 1st will fly by. I have 410s and I shift at 5300, which is almost immediately after launching. Make your clutch engage and gear select in one motion as best you can. And good luck :nice:

what did your car run in the quarter.

Best ever w/out gears was 13.87 . Since I have added gears the car slowed to 14.10s BUT it is pinging and detonating bad in the upper RPMs. I hope to remedy this soon and maybe lay down mid 13s. My 60ft times were in the 1.9s with the d/rs which is respectable and will easily translate to 13 second slips. Remember this is only with a shifter, weld in mufflers, and gears. I still have 4 converters and no other boltons.

IMO, it is always best to slip. If you rev it up, and drop it, physics comes in to play. Lets say you drop it, get good grip...The front end will rise very quickly and then drop, and when it drops...it WILL slow the car (no matter how high the drop is). this is why when top fuel dragsters go, they have those things on the back. Not only will they flip over...but they will be slower if they did not flip.
Lets say you slip. Rev to 5 grand drop halfway or so, and then slip it out. You will have continued power and you will launch your self out. I have seen MANY people try the dumping thing, and they will never get as good 60's IMO. Not to mention dumping it, you may snap **** (as did i).

I was wondering why all the reaerend upgrades in your sig. :D So release the clutch until contact and then ride it out? Where is the best contact point for slippling? I still dont feel I get it completely BUT I want to understand so I can hopefully drop a few tenths. Please explain further
