Well, I got a helluva deal on a set of 18x9 black chrome AFS Mach 1s. $525 plus $80 s/h. So, I'm taking opinions on tires. The car won't be driven in snow or heavy rain (and I won't even put the new set on until March or so). I'm guessing I should go 265/35/18 in the front and 275/35/18 in the rear? So what do you recommend? Nitto 555? Kuhmo?

I have AFS 18x9 03 cobras and run the tire sizes you listed (great choices!). tires I'd consider would be first the BFG T/A KDW 2's

Second would be the Kumho MX's. I have the lower model Kumho 712's and i'm not crazy about them.

Post pictures when you get them on there.

There both great tires I have run nittos and I am currently running Kuhmos. I had the Nitto Drags in the back and they hooked up great but did not last I would definatly go with them if you don't pile on the milage. The Kuhmos provide more tire life and good overall traction but do not hook up as well as Nittos. Thats my experience.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about hooking up since I won't go to the track with the wheels on. I plan on getting some Welds next summer. As for mileage, I have 4635 or so and I've had the car since last Dec. 12. But I would still like a good tread life. Thanks for the suggestions!

I used nitto drag radials and thought they sucked for traction and mileage. Nittos have too much hype. I now have BFG drag radials, and they hook much better. They seem to be lasting pretty well mileage wise.

You guys are comparing different tires. Those nittos are NOT drag radials, so if you're comparing those to BFG DRs, OF COURSE the BFGs are going to hook a lot better.

As for tread life, I strongly disagree about the kumhos/nittos. I've had both and the kumhos go down a good bit faster. I've got 555s on my car now and it looks like they're going to pull 30k+. My kumho 712s were wasting away at 20k. Not to mention these tires hook 10x better than the Kumhos in wet or dry. Although the kumhos were 245, but it shouldn't make that much difference, especially in the wet.

The nitto 555s are EXCELLENT radials if you need wider sizes like mine... 285/35/18... You can't beat the price/performance/life. They only thing is that they're pretty loud.
