I'm starting a new thread for kind of the same problem. My 92 5.0 w/306 ci , AFR 165's, Trick Flow intake, 24lb's, E303 cam w/ 10:1 compression gets up to about 210 degrees when idleing, but will stay between 180 and 190 while driveing. On my old thread "92 5.0 running hot, running rich I got a lot of great feed back from several people ( thank you ). To date I've tried new water pump, 180 t-stat w/ 1/8 inch holes drilled in the lip to let air out, 3 fan clutches. I've got the stock fan w/ 3-row big tube radiator that's about 5 months or so old. Some feed back I got was to go to an e-fan, because the stock set up can't cool the new engine I have in it now. Hissin50 had some good advice on fans, and I checked Houstonperformance.com, but couldn't find the fans. So I wanted to get some suggestions on which fans work best. Mark VIII fan, but where do I find that one. I've seen one on Summit, Black Magic fan that flows 3300cfm, anyone know anything about that one? I've got a cobra overdrive water pump pulley on now, and that seemed to make the driving temp stay around 180 longer, but it still goes up at idle. Should I drop the underdrive crank pulley, and go back to the stock pulley? Would that help the cooling at all? If anyone can help me I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks a lot. One last thing, should I go back to a 160 hi-flow t-stat.
