i think that my stock temp guage is taking a crap...so i am going try to install an aftermarket guage..........do I need to get an electrical or mechanical..

any other information would be very helpful.,..

if its inside the car get any autometer electrical water gauge, you dont want water running into your car, if it is outside the car go for the autometer mechanical water. all autometer gauges are the same except for the different colors an stuff they come in so it is your own preference there. but the regular ultralite pro comps work fine and are good for the money.

mechanical temp gauges use capillary tubing, so there is not coolant flowing through the line.

a quality elec gauge should work. i personally dont like the limited sweep of electric gauge, but autometer sells electric gauges with a 270* sweep (like a mechanical gauge).

elec gauge require a smaller hole through the firewall (or none at all). with a mech gauge, you have to have a decent hole to plumb the bulbous sender through to the motor.

you can also relocate the stock sender to the rear intake port, to atleast not have a dead gauge.
good luck.
