I have a fresh 289 that is on a stand in the garage. My old (factory) harmonic balancer took a crap and i need a new one. Should i go with some brand from summitt or just go OEM? Engine is built stock except for a mild Elgin Cam (.448 lift and .212 duration @.050).

Thanks

Your performance level does not warrant the fancy one. Get a stock one, spend the rest of the money on something important, like beer. :)

If it was rare, or your engine was custom balanced, I'd say get new rubber vulcanized in the one you have, but this costs as much as a new one.

both the 28 and 50 oz style they offer are manufactored to the early 3" diameter size...so it's compatible with the vintage rides.

If one wants to use it with the later style fox setup, they offer spacers to bolt to it between the spacer and pulley

I love the thing...it's got three sets of timing marks too, so no matter what you can always find the timing marks no matter which side your pointer is on.

before I discovered this balancer, I was freaking out about which one I could run

you got me there...left, right and ? I Have a late 5.0 with a vintage timing cover, and use the dr side mark. It's got markings to 40 degrees, which help me to set total timing...
