Hey Guys,
I picked up a set of lightly ported GT40P heads on trade the other day, then got lucky and found a guy selling a set of BBK long tube ceramic coated headers with BBK x pipe for $150.00. They're in really good shape, just a little rust down by the collector on top of the tubes.....
After all the "which header for gtp heads" reading i've done I know they'll work with a little planning.
The question comes from my visit to Summit today. They had a set of FRPP stainless shorty's in the clearance area for $125.00! A really good deal! so I bought them too......Knowing that the FRPP shorty's are an easier fit with the GTP's but the long tubes building a little more power AND having both sets in the garage...which set would YOU use? I can certainly sell the other for at least what I have into them.
I know this wont be the monster a stroker or aluminum headed motor might be so it probably doesn't really matter which I use but I've read enough posts to see that with a GTP upgrade all the little things seem to add up and make the difference between getting 260 or 270 RWHP out of it and seeing the 290/300 some other guys get. Now is the time for me to plan the little things....then I get to agonize over a cam..
Thanks for the advice.......
Jeff
My car is an 88 hatch. Stock block, prevoius owner installed E-cam, (considering changing that out) but I did convert it to mass air so it would run better. I'll be installing the heads after a valve job and spring upgrade along with an explorer intake and the 65mm TB, 70 mm MAF. The car all ready has 3.73's and a T-5 as well.
