My Mallory Digital VI Ignition Box took a dump on me and I have decided to just replace everything; Box, Coil, Distributer, & Wires. I want everything to be the same brand so please help me out. I am somewhat unfamiliar with this area and I need help picking out a complete system. I have a $1000 spending limit (would like to spend less though). Future mods include: 331ci, better heads, a race block, and turbocharger system, since I hate buying parts twice I want to make sure the ignition system will be able to support higher power levels for street, strip, and open track duties.

I am subscribing. I have heard of a lot of trouble from boxes including MSD and - Crane especially with our cars. It could be b/c the combo ..don't know. I am also wondering if they really make any noticeable power. The crane hi6 did on my 90.

I had the complete MSD system on my car with FRPP plug wires. I've had the box for quite a while but the dizzy and coil werent on for too long. I have heard that the box should be mounted outside of direct engine heat and with the vibration mounts. I put mine where my battery used to be and never had any problems. *(Was in there for about a year.)

I just so happen to have a Brand New MSD dizzy with matching blaster coil for the 94/95 5.0 for sale. The dizzy only has 6 miles on it and the coil probably around 300. I only want $300 shipped for it-Less than the price of the dizzy alone. I can send pics if you want or feel free to ask me any questions!

EDIT: I HAD A H/C/I 331 WITH 250HP NX WET UNIT. SPARK WOULD BLOW OUT ALOT UNTIL I DID THE BOX AND COIL!

I'm going to be selling my Hi-6 and buying a MSD 6BMT for my new turbo. If you're seriously thinking about a turbo, go with this. As for the wires. After burning 4 sets of FMS, I went with performance distributors "Livewires" and not a burn in 2 yrs.

I put a Crane Hi6R on my 95 that has a blower and I couldn't be happier, what is great about the crane is the built in rev limiter that is adjustable from 1000 to 9900, and requires no pills or chips like MSD, great marketing on MSD because you can't just buy the pill you want, you have to by like 5 of them for 30 bucks. The crane has two rotateable knobs one for 1000's of RPM and one for 100's. I put my box under the passengers seat. Whenever I get an alignment or someone else besides me has to drive the car for somereason, I scoot that seat forward and turn the rev limiter down to 2800. Now they can't hotrod my car and blow the engine. Crane has a bunch of built in features to test the box to make sure it is working perfectly and has outputs for a tach or shiftlight and has programs built in to test your tach, great function that MSD couldn't afford to add to their 6BTM. The retard is nice too and works great the knob has a red power LED, the MSD retard knob does not. Anyways, point said, I personally like the Crane and have not had any issues with it, one suggestion, don't buy a MSD blaster coil, I get an electric glow around it at night from arcing did the same for 3 of them that I bought new from summit, get a FMS coil or Crane coil. Best of luck searching for your ignition.

So the Crane Ignition System sounds like a deal, is anyone else out there using it? I am not just looking for a Box, I also want a new Coil and Distributer. Anyone out there with aftermarket ignition components please check in and help me out, i was hoping to get more replies than this!

I opted to run the PD ignition system....no complaints...I swapped the stock dizzy a year later and went MSD Pro billet...PD has one but it was even more than the MSD...I checked out Jacobs and all of em....I didnt see a need for an MSD box, never mind the probs posted over the years...
I'm N/A I choose what I felt was an easy way to upgrade and keep it simple...I have yet to hear of complaints with any of PD's stuff...Its works..
Crane is the OEM supplier to Ford anyway I believe...and my stock stuff held up just fine...I just wanted to replace it all at once and the Livewires are horny...
