I have an 01 bullitt with 25k I am going to do an oil change and have been debating on what oils I should use. Syn or not . Should I use lucas oil synt oil stablizer or not. I was told to use 4 qts of 5w30 with 1 qt of the lucas stablizer. What are you guys opinions or what do you use.

I use Motorcraft 5w20. Over on the BITOG forums, there's a thread with a test of how Lucas affects your oil. It showed it to cause foaming.. I for one won't be running it.

Don't put ANY Lucas in your engine. That car doesn't need it...especially since you only have 20k miles. Lucas is used on engines with high mileage (100k +).

I run 5 quarts of synthetic Mobil one 5w-30. You can get it at Walmart for DIRT cheap (it's a 5 court jug thingy). They even have the right Motorcraft oil filter. You could also run 5w-20 I suppose.

I'm not sure why every one is posting 6 quarts of oil . My 2000GT owner's manual says 5 quarts with a new filter. With 5 quarts, the oil reaches the "MAX" mark one my oil dip stick. Put 5 in there, and if it's not enough, add more.

Yea.. the older models for some reason take more usually. My 04 takes just about 6 quarts to get to the full line.

Same here.

No matter what it reads on the stick it should take the specified amount from the Factory, i.e. 6 qts. The dip sticks are notorious for being off and on my Mach it is a little low after a fresh change. I scribbed a line on the stick so I would know where it is "supposed" to be after a fresh change and then between changes I have a solid point at which to go by when checking.

Mobil 1 or Ford 5w-20. 6 quarts. I change either every 3k or every 5k depending on my mood. There really isn't much color difference when i change it at 3k and when i change it at 5k

I was using Amsoil for the last 2 years changing the filter every 3k-5k and chaning the oil every spring when I get the car out of storage. I only put about 9k on a year. This spring I am going to try Mobil 1 5w-30 because it was cheaper at Walmart than Amsoil. Also only one place around here sells Amsoil which is a PITA. I also use Motorcraft filters.

Motorcraft 5W-20 synthetic blend with Motorcraft FL-820S filter just like it says in the owner's manual. Remember the filter selection is just as important as the oil selection...

Depends on how I'm feeling... Sometimes I use Wesson, other times I'll use Mazola.

J/K

I run Mobil 1 10W30 full synthetic and a Mobil 1 M-210 synthetic filter.
