Which T5 shifter to buy?

Just Threw A B&M on My TKO last night actually and am very impressed with it. A Hell of a lot better then the factory POS Tremec Shifter. Although I have nothing compare to it I woudn't be afriad to recomend a B&M.

If you choose the Triax, then buy the UPR one. Its the same shifter but less money. Ive had 2 in 2 different cars and never had any problems with either.

Man that handle is pretty short, it just looks weird to me. About how far do you actully have to move the shifter with that setup?

Im curious also, is that a custom handle?

Tremec reccomends not using an after market shifter as they say it will damage the internals of the tranny. They say that it is already a short throm right? I'll see if I can find the info.

No.
Move the shifter? Not sure I follow you. You mean, how short is the throw?
Yes, the lever is short, but it isn't as far away as the normal Pro5.0 one. It is the Kona lever on the Pro5.0 base; the Kona lever is identical to the Steeda Tri-Ax, only made out of steel not aluminum. If the UPR shifter is in fact a Tri-Ax clone like many say it is, then this lever position is the same as either of them.

News to me, I've never heard that. I have heard that an after market shifter isn't needed to protect the internals, because the TTC trannies have internal stops built in to protect it already. However, that it would damage anything is ludicrous. The shifter they come with is short throw, but it's a cheap casting with weak springs and no offset third technology- making it less than desirable. Only the new TTC TKO 500/600's come from Tremec with a decent shifter. Additionally, Hanlon Motorsports (the Tremec experts, home of one of the fastest TTC equipped Mustangs [for many years, THE fastest]) recommend Pro5.0 exclusively, to the point that they don't even sell anything else. Furthermore, Pro5.0 is one of the few companies who actually dissect trannies before designing a shifter for it, so that the mechanism has the correct tension and pivot ratio for each application. I don't see how any damage could occur from using one.

I have a Tri-ax and love it. From what I have heard and I may be wrong. The Pro5.0 is more of a drag car shifter and the Tri-ax is more street friendly. I am not trying to step on any toes here. Now if I could just get a decently rebuilt T-5 I would be fine.
