What would be the best water pump for the money. I'm fixing to h/c swap the car and my water pump is leaking so it's going to be swapped while I'm down there. Should I just head to a parts store and use one of those, or would I be doing myself a big favor by stepping up to a better, new pump? Eventually the fan will be swapped for an electrical, once the motor and suspension is how I want it. Thanks.

Stewarts gets my vote! I had a Milidon high volume and it was absolute junk. It wouldn't flow enough at idle which is where you need it. Stewarts solved my problem and was also suggested by Rick91gt a popular engine builder here on the forum. Summit carries the stewarts line now if you are looking for a place to buy them.

I just finished swapping my water pump yesterday because I had a leaky gasket. Figured if I was going through the effort of taking everything apart, I might as well install a new pump. I went with the Edelbrock. They claim their impeller is a better design and it is supposed to have better cooling balance than other make pumps. I checked the impeller out and it is a cast piece that is then machined as opposed to a stamped steel like most other companies use. I don't have any data to report as far as cooling improvement (snowed here last night and my car is used in fair weather only) but I have had really good luck with Edelbrock products (car has Performer RPM intake and heads). It's a little pricey (about $150) but I think it will be worth it in the long run.

Thanks, I'll look into those. The consensus looks like a new waterpump is what needs to be bolted in, so I'll look into that. Thanks.

I bought an edelbrock high flow. With aluminum heads, i dont want to take any chances. It was a little more expensive, but i look at it as insurance.

If you were considering putting another stock pump on, remember this... If its time to replace, you might as well upgrade.

This is mine, with the edelbrock pump on it..
