Whine Coming From Front

Hey guys, I have a 91 LX hatchback 5.0 with a 5 speed. Lately I've been hearing a whine while driving that gets higher pitched with speed. Going into neutral, changing gears etc doesn't change it, only speed.

I can hear it louder when I lean in towards the dash. I put the car up on 4 jackstands and ran it through the gears, couldn't hear the noise. Could this be something related to the wheel bearings? Nothing else I can think of that would match all the symptoms.

Any ideas?

Yes, jack it up and spin the wheels, may not hear the whine but they may rumble or feel loose.

Take the accessory belt off and spin some components by hand. Could be th bearings in the alt or water pump failing. Feel for roughness, as you probably won't hear the whine.

Air pump also could be a sourve
