Whining sound when brake pedal pushed?

I have a 2000 GT manual and on my way home today it is making a
sort of whining noise from the front of the engine when the brake pedal is pushed, driving or standing still. It whines with the engines RPM's and I can feel a bit of vibration in the brake pedal. It seems to run fine and the brakes work. Anyone had this problem or have any ideas what it could be?

My K&N FIPKII whines sometimes at idle.
Doesn't look like you have this kit though...This whine gets louder with engine rpms when you speed up or when you rev it up, or both?

These cars are hydro boost.

Thanks for your replies.

It turns out I was about an inch and half low past the min mark of power
steering fluid. Filled it up and all is well!
