My tranny whines like crazy, sounds like a blower sometimes. I got it from an '88 Turbocoupe at the JY when I T5-swapped, so I don't know the history of it. I figure it's probably bearings, but I'd like to alleviate it at least temporarily. I'm running Coastal ATF in it right now, from Autozone. Would something like Redline help reduce the whining?

Iv used some "stuff" im my T-5 a while ago, most T-5s make that whining noise, its just common. Try what you think is best, let us know. good luck

if you go for redline, the d4 is what redline recommends. seems to work well in mine.

good luck.

Could be your speedo cable. I'd spray some white lithuim(sp?) grease on it.

I called redline a few years ago about what oil there recommended for a street driven and occasionally track driven manual trans. The engineer I talked to said the best thing would be their Light Shockproof Gear oil. I put it in my T-5 and a few other manuals they all shift a lot smoother, whine less, and the car get better gas mileage. I would not put anything else in a manual.

is there anything out there to help stock a leak on a manual. i know there is stuff out there for the auto. i just really want to stop this leak instead of having to take out my trans and redo everything. thanks
