Who knows C-4 Autos?

Hello,

So I figure it's time to change the transmission fluid in the '67 Mustang with a c-4 Auto. I drop the pan and loosen the bolts and take the mesh filter off. As I drop the mesh filter, two additional bolts fall into my hand that must have been loose underneath the filter. They look like the bolts that hold the filter on, only shorter. I looked up at where the filter attaches to the valve body and notice that there are a total of four holes under there. On my car, the furthest one back still contains a bolt but the other three holes do not. I assume that my two bolts go into two of the three other holes, and sure enough they fit.

The question is: Is that where these other two bolts go? What about the other hole? Should there be a total of four bolts underneath the filter?

Any insights you have would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Brian

Here are the bolt locations for a C4 for both the filter and the valve body:

There really isn't any other place for the bolts to fall out of. My page has more internal pictures of a C4: http://www.geocities.com/dennis_2685/frtpump.html

Excellent Photo! Thanks!

That's exactly what I'm looking for! Interestingly, I'm going to have to go out and find another bolt....I've only got three bolts while the photo clearly shows that there are 4 up underneath there!

Thanks again for your response, it's very helpful!
