who traps 104+ with BASIC bolt ons?

so your saying you can trap a 109 at sea level with an untouched long block? sorry i just cant see that happening

I'm not saying it, the NHRA correction factors are.
Bob Cosby was running 109mph and 12.6's back in the day... and several posts regarding stockers on the corral have 108-109 traps on stock long blocks over on the east coast.

I moved from New Brunswick (ran 13.2's consistantly) to Phoenix (had trouble running 13.9's) and lost over 4mph running stock exhaust.

I don't think it's out of line at all.

The 82 trapped 103 and 104 at 12.93, all motor last March. I sprayed one run to a 106. This my carbed, garage built 82 with a C4, etc. With the 4.10's, I am about as fast as I want to spin this motor.

Back when I had just bolt ons I was trapping 103. Now with the valves in the heads the cars uaully around 106...

I have known guys trapping 105+ with untouched long blocks, but the cars were usually lighter, and the guys had more drag oriented set ups!

I trapped 105 with bone stock heads, headers, rockers, injectors, cam, etc....

Could have easily gone 107 or better with just a few track only tricks. (ie. removing front swaybar, lighten up the interior by removing the back seats and such, ice the intake down, etc....)

105 is no problem.

Edit: This was in my 89 coupe, not my Terminator, lol...

Thats why I said usually... Have to cover everyone out there, as I know there are guys who have been 105 with untouched motors in their daily drivers.

I knew a guy who claimed to have trapped slightly over 100 in his bone stock hatch (car did have an H-pipe).

04Sleeper = I trapped 105 with bone stock heads, headers, rockers, injectors, cam, etc....

Yeah, and when he was done he took off his CAI and shaved using his butterfly in the TB as a mirror!! :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh:
(inside joke)

Hey, it's all good. I like to get what I can out of what I have. :nice:

Don't give away all the secrets Billy. LOL

BTW: I got a pretty good shave too.......:rlaugh:

Been a long time since I posted over here. Anyway, just to be accurate, what I claim as my best trap speed with the stock longblock is below:

I did have one run in which I went 108.32 mph, but if you look at the car in the other lane, his mph was EXACTLY the same, and I didn't normally gain 24 mph in the backhalf, so I don't claim this one:

I suspect a computer/timing light glitch.

Besides....ET rules and mph drools. ;)

Bob can you list the mods? 1.6 60fts on a stock long block is rediculous!:nice:

this thread is so confusing cuz i orignally posted this months ago and since then my signature has been updated with more mods. thats why i have the mods that i was asking about. and i have 30lb injectors cuz i have a custom chip and a dyno tune.

What kind of numbers did you put down? We have similar mods, and I know I could have put down more hp & tq if I would have had a chance to tune my car. I was running very rich with stock 19lb injectors and a wet kit.

Complete list of mods, in chronological order, can be found HERE.

At the time of that run, I was using stock control arms, springs, shocks, and struts. Chassis mods consisted of removed front swaybar, air bag in passenger side spring, rear-mounted trunk, and 26x8 Goodyear slicks.

Bob

The best thing you can do is get some good tires and un-bolt the sway bar, etc. and most of all know how to drive the car. I know way to many people who think that hp is everything and not a single damn one of them knows how to drive a car at the track. They get out of the groove, none know how to launch off a line...i've known cars thats ran .3 better with a really good driver.

I give you alot of credit doing it back then before you had the big 5.0 following and all the mods that are available today!!:nice:
