I have aquired a trueflow C&L inlet pipe from one of stangnets finer members and will be installing it after I've completed polishing it. Question is who has attempted to polish a trueflow?...casting looks rough, but I imagine it can be done reasonably well. Second question is...who is running this pc with at pro-m 75 bullet MAF and stockbox? If you are, did you have any clearance issues?
Tanx.

DMAN you are far too kind. Package is on it's way. The casting is rough, but there's plenty of material to work with. I'll PM you the tracking number.

Despite being really rough and bumpy you still have plenty (as stated) of material to work with. Basically, sand it down. A lot. A flap wheel will come in real handy but you've got to be careful on how gritty you go and how much metal it takes off. If you get haphazard with it you'll end up with it being unsmooth (although still a lot better than it is now with all the bumps and graininess).

Once that's done you can break out the sandpaper or a DA sander and use something in a 220-280 grit (usually what I use when I have to follow up a flap wheel job) and smooth it all out nicely. Then proceed as usual

And as always - hurry up so you can post pics

I will, I will...as you did Dave I found a local plating company. They will take on the project if I find the material won't provide a decent result...as you know some castings just don't like to play nice, but I'll do my best. I will have pics as soon as I get the chance . Really would prefer to have gone with a custom CAI for looks, but my tune is with the stockbox in place...so I just have to make the best of it.

Cool. However, my Powerpipe problem with that was the pipe was, at least according to the chrome shop, "aluminized steel". I didn't ask much else but I'd guess it was steel with some kind of coating of aluminum on top or mixed in...or something. But that explains why it didn't play nice. I must have had it half-bare to steel and half-with aluminum still showing, because some parts would polish up nicely and others I could not get shiny to save my life.

I believe the C&L pipes are all aluminum. If they're like the SN95 ones, they are. I did one for a friend over spring and it came out real fine.
