Dman, looks badass along with almoststock, stang22. and mansonozz, you guys rock. I have a quick Q, I wanted to polish my stock intake plaque, so I went at it with 150 grit first, to get into it and get rid of the lateral dashes in it, if yall know what I am talking about, then 220 then some 400. I tried to polish it up with my ventilated disc thing along with some alluminum polish and all I can get out of it is a bright, but still dullish silver. What am I doing wrong?

you need to start out with a swen buff..little tougher and with "white rouge" componund work it a while..then move to the ventilate buff and continue with white rouge till you've got your bling. The pics always look better than the real thing though, you will get good reflection but in the right light the fine scratches will always be present. The C&L pipe was a bugger simply because I had not had much practive in the last yr or so and it's not perfect, but it's pretty good. I wanted to keep the "C&L" raised emblem, but I had a little oups with the grinder and a 50 grit quick lock disk.

Tough to say exactly without a pic. Sounds like it's not sanded well enough or you didn't buff well enough.

Everyone does things differently when it comes to polishing a piece so I’ve found!

IMO the ventilated flap isn't going to buff or polish a thing; it's to abrasive to do either.

My suggestion......I'd suggest after all you’ve done is to move to a Spiral Sewn buff with Tripoli to do the buffing and then to a Spiral Sewn or Loose Section with White Rouge to do the polishing , but that's just my $.02.

Like dave said, you need to sand with a light grit untill you take out all the gouges and deep sand marks. the buffing is really needs the white rouge, I have tried mothers billet...it's awesome, but does not perform well when applied to a buff wheel. Actually I used mothers on the part to do a quick hand polish after my final sand to give me a chance to see how the surface looks.

awesome thanks guys, I'll make a run to the store tomorrow and get everything, I was sur I had white rouge, but couldn't find it in the garage. Words cannot express how I feel bout all your beautiful engine bays

Thank you very much! Good luck tomorrow...it's a pain, but it's worth the time IMO. Guys like Almost stock, Manson, and Stang22 have done considerably more work than I have and consider them to be some of the best at metal working and customizing the engine, bay and hell the whole damn car.
