mine has been holding up fine at my power levels w/ 132,000 miles, we'll see what happens when i start using my new dr's in 2-3 weeks though... i havent decided if i want to go with a g-force or a tremec when it breaks
Mines still holding up. I lunched the 2nd gear synchro's about a year ago when I broke my clutch cable while sitting at a stoplight. I had to get it moving so I started it in 1st and forced it into 2nd It grinds into 2nd now but shifts smooth when powershifting. Other than that it's like butter. Has probably 20 strip passes (on DR's) and hundreds of street launches. I'll someday get a new trans and hang this beauty on the wall like a trophy
We were running a completely stock T-5 in my friend's 88 until 3rd let go last Nov. it held up just fine after a full season of drag racing every sat. night for 3 months launching at 4500 on slicks with a 150 NX kit, but we also used a stock clutch and it finally let go one day while I was driving it home on the interstate, started slowing down and I went to 3rd and boom, no more 3rd. We have the D&D Motorsports 3rd and 2nd gear kit in it now and have also added P heads and a Novi2000, we'll see how it holds after we put the King Cobra clutch in and run it on slicks. As for the 4cyl T-5 in mine, I just put another used one it after destroying the first one which was behind my new engine for about a month and the current one has been in it for 2 weeks and 1st through 3rd sound like they are ready to go any day now
i need a new tranny cus my synchros are gone in third gear and shes startin to whine pretty loud... anyone have any suggestions on what tranny to get now? my friend has a t-5 superduty for sale but i dont know what to get really.... im on a budget so any ideas?
well i hear you can get a rebuild kit and the video on how to do it for dirt cheap for your t-5. like less then 200 for all, and i hear its not that hard to do...
I rebuilt my stock t5 at about 130k and stuck in the shed. I was running the tremec t5 until sunday when I trashed third gear . So now Im back to the stocker for now.
