Why are tracks so slick compared to the street?

 ah crap...
I don't know anymore, I give up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:damnit:

Im sure it depends on the car, tires, event etc... I was at FFW, on some cheap 17s, launching off idle. Some cars have great weight transfer, some dont. Too many variables to account for and give a solid answer. The only way to know is go to your local track and find out!

Yeah my car has decent weight transfer (been 1.69 60's on stock suspension), and Im sure the roads I tested on had sand, dirt, imperfections etc... A perfect track vs a perfect road is the only way to really see, and that most likely wont happen, so take it to the track and try it out!

yeah, you def. don't want to drive thru the water box w/ radials.
And I hate A-holes who drive straight thru the water and drag it up to the line and leave water there.
dicks.

Same here. I also like the rice boys that forget to turn the A/C off and drip condensation all over the track. The track officials throw them out immediately. Too funny.

Tracks and prep different. I have spun easier on the track than the street and vice versa (same track!).

Remember rubber isn't meant to grab rubber...it is all in the "spray":) (track prep).

HOOKS HOOKS HOOKS...no matter what tires you have. of course...if the dude in front you drug water on the staging area....then no , you'll spin all day long.

but i sprayed a convertible aod w/ 100 shot and 3.73's on street tires...sprayed it out of the hole and pulled 2.0 60's it ran 13.60

on the street i had to ease it out or it would just melt the tires...then when it shifted it would break loose bad too.

the track will be stickiest b4 a big event, or the test and tune night right b4.

they prep it well for the big boys
