I know my car is almost 15 yrs old but its got alot of new stuff--motor-tranny etc. but this buzzing from the shifter area is killing me!! I have a T-5z with a Pro5.0 shifter and brand new tires the 3.55's are setup right--the cars has a vibration at part throttle at 60-70 mph. I swapped driveshafts and most of the buzzing is gone--but its still there and mainly in 5th on the highway---my console is tight. what else could it be?? The tranny mount??

The e-brake handle buzzes but i took care of that. This sound is from the shifter area. My stops on the shifter are tight. The console has all four retainer clips.

My 92' had the same problem in the shifter area. I pulled the boot off the shifter and the plastic and shuved a few shop rags in there, sounds stupid but works. The car still has alot of other creaks in it. It seems like the more you hack em up the noisier they get.

You say most of it is gone after a DS change. So I think you have found your prob. What kind of DS did you put in? The fact that its worse at high speeds (5th gear) points to the DS as well. The faster you go, the faster it spins. It should vibrate more if you put it in nuetral at a high speed, mine did. Try flipping your DS over 180 degrees. This may provide better balance, and its free, so worth a shot. If it doesnt help take the DS to a driveline shop and have them spin it on the lathe. They let me in the shop to see how badly mine was twisted. That really says alot for the T-5 :D

Ok i am going to look like a dummy--but i got rid of my buzzing and vibes today!! The DS swap cured most of it but the shifter still had alot of buzzing--well i guess i had the stops on the Pro 5.0 shifter to tight. I just backed them out to were they only touched if you slammed it in gear and not all the time like it was. well the noise is gone and i can actually drive my car without turning up the stereo to were i cant hear myself think! It doesnt rattle like a F-body anymore.
